Girls on the Run, Now in Watertown, MA

Founded in 1996, Girls on the Run International is anonprofit that has served 2 million+ girls across North America – helping thembuild confidence and learn critical life skills including resolving conflict, helping others, and making intentional decisions.

The organization has found that children today are exposed to longstanding gender stereotypes, societal obstacles and cultural challenges that can be detrimental to their emotional and physical health. The Girls on the Run program helps girls recognize their potential and rise above limiting gender expectations. Girls on the Run programs are about so much more than running – they make an impact at a critical age when confidence and physical activity decline.

The 8-week program beginning on April 2nd is designed to inspire girls in grades 3,4, and 5 of all abilities to embrace their inner strength and make meaningful connections with others. Trained coaches use physical activity and dynamic discussions to guide the girls to build social, emotional, and physical skills while encouraging healthy habits for life. The program culminates on May 31 with a celebration of the girls’ success and a competitive 5K run on the Boston Commons.
